I have worked in quality control and manufacturing in many different roles as noted below. In that time, I became proficient with the most-common metrology tools inspecting parts daily for many years.
In 2018, I got the opportunity to teach Dimensional Metrology at Laney College in Oakland, CA. I have a passion for teaching and I am hopeful that those who watch this video series learn something about these tools and have a positive experience. I have put a lot of my knowledge into these videos and hope it can be a short-cut and reference for many in the industry getting started.
My metrology experience is mostly from learning on the job with fellow inspectors and machinists. I was introduced to many of the gages and concepts in school, but the experience working with the gages every day with skilled people is invaluable. I am grateful to all those who have taught me something and hopefully this video series can pass it on.
I continue to learn more and more as time goes by. Never stop learning. Even now I realize some of the video explanations may have been inaccurate or incomplete. But that's part of life. And I'll try to follow-up on anything egregious. I'm continually learning new things that challenge my perceptions of what I thought I knew. If you feel that way, too, don't worry, its normal. As new processes, tools, and explanations come forward, I'm sure I'll have to keep re-evaluating
